Foundations Memphis Review
Based in East Memphis, Tennessee, Foundations Memphis is an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment program which puts its emphasis on clients who are stepping down from residential treatment. The facility is a counterpart to The Oaks at La Paloma, though both programs are owned by the nationwide behavioral health company Foundations Recovery Network.
Treatment and Staff
Upon intake, clients at Foundations Memphis must first go through psychiatric evaluations and assessments to help them develop an individualized treatment program. While each program includes both individual and group therapy, treatment tends more towards the latter and focuses on peer support as well as evidence-based treatment. Though schedules can vary, outpatient treatment sessions are available in the morning and evening for three hours at a time.
Treatment methods used in groups include Motivational Interviewing (MI), DBT and the Stages of Change model for recovery. Other topics can include stress management, life skills and relapse prevention. While regular AA/NA meetings are not always a required part of the program, 12-step principles are discussed during treatment. The staff at Foundations Memphis consists of LPCs, psychiatrists, physicians and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Aside from the above, clients can also add holistic treatment into their programs such as meditation and hypnotherapy. Full panel drug screenings are also available, as are family group therapy sessions. The facility also has a hotline which alums can call for additional support. As mentioned, those in need of more intensive care can also attend Foundations Memphis’s sister program The Oaks at La Paloma, which also includes on-site detox services.
In Summary
As with many of Foundations Recovery Network’s other facilities, Foundations Memphis provides flexible and customizable treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders. While treatment here is geared more towards those who have already completed another program, those in all stages of recovery are welcome to design programs which fit their needs. Although Foundations Memphis is priced somewhat higher than some competing outpatient programs may be, those in the area would still do well by considering it on their path to recovery.
