Treatment and Staff
All Foundations programs are based on the Stages of Change model of recovery, designed to meet clients wherever they are in their recovery. After an initial intake and psychiatric assessment, clients work with staff members to develop individualized treatment plans that follow either an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) track or a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) track. Both tracks offer individual and group therapy using DBT, CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Groups use trauma-informed care and address anger management, relapse prevention, the 12-step approach and psychoeducation. Couples and family therapy are also available.
The PHP is a more intensive schedule and clients generally reside in a nearby sober living home and commute for treatment. For clients with a dual diagnosis, medication management is also available. Staff consists of LCSWs, MDs, CADCs, LPNs, psychiatrists and other Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
In addition to evidence-based care, holistic methods offered include art therapy, massage and adventure therapy. The facility also has a recovery zone room where clients can relax and watch videos, rent movies, get on the Internet and socialize.
As an aftercare option, clients may join the Heroes in Recovery, a nationwide network that strives to reduce the stigma for addiction and provide companionship for people recovering from addictions. Foundations Chicago can also help clients get involved in the Life Challenge program, which is rooted in the Christian faith.
