Foundations Atlanta Review
Based out of Atlanta, Georgia, Foundations Atlanta provides outpatient treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders. Owned and operated by Foundations Recovery Network—a nationwide behavioral healthcare organization—Foundations Atlanta has four facilities in the state: Midtown, Roswell, South Atlanta and Dunwoody.
Treatment and Staff
For the most part, programs at Foundations Atlanta are based on the Stages of Change model, which seeks to meet clients wherever they are in the recovery process. After an initial intake and psychiatric assessment, clients work with staff members to develop individualized treatment plans that best suit their needs. Though scheduling is flexible, clients can attend up to 32 hours of therapy a week, which includes individual and group therapy using evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, psychoeducation and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET). All programs can accommodate clients with a dual diagnosis and medication management is available as well.
While 12-step participation may not be required for all treatment plans, clients are encouraged to pursue outside support if needed.
Staff consists of LMFTs, LPCs, physicians, psychiatrists and Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
In addition to evidenced-based care, holistic treatment options include acupuncture, pilates, yoga, massage therapy, music therapy, Tai Chi, personal training, glass blowing, kayaking, cooking classes and adventure therapy. Clients may choose to attend any of these classes or sessions one to two times a week at no additional cost cost. A weekend family program is also offered to help educate clients’ families about addiction as a family disease. Alumni may also participate in a quarterly workshop called Recharge, a two-day intensive that strives to reconnect families and can serve as aftercare.
Other services include state-required drug and alcohol evaluations.
In Summary
In all, Foundations Atlanta offers solid outpatient treatment that combines evidenced-based care with supplemental holistic modalities to create a diverse and individualized program for each client. With expansive resources from its parent company, the Georgia locations are able to offer many of the bells and whistles normally only found in residential programs—but with the flexible scheduling of outpatient care. Because of this and its comprehensive psychiatric and medical support, the cost of treatment may be slighter higher than average outpatient treatment but considering all its features, it seems well-justified.
