Fort Bend Regional CouncilFort Bend Regional Council Review

Fort Bend Regional Council is an outpatient substance abuse facility located in Stafford, Texas. Founded in 1977, the council originally began simply as a community youth prevention program aiming to educate Texan youths on the dangers of drugs and alcohol. However, due to local need, Ford Bend Regional Council grew into an outpatient program for adults in 2001.

With a second location in Rosenberg, Texas (roughly 15 miles away), Fort Bend is one of a select group of treatment providers that is approved to treat clients referred by the Fort Bend County Drug Court Diversion Program.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment at Ford Bend Regional Council begins with an assessment. If a client is in need of more in-depth treatment—such as residential treatment or detox services, a referral is made to a more appropriate treatment program. Once admitted to the program, clients are given an individualized treatment plan based on a 12-week cycle. Clients participate in group counseling Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 pm. Individual therapy is scheduled twice a month. If a client needs more one-on-one session work, options are discussed with his or her individual therapist.

Ford Bend Regional Council’s treatment team is composed of LADCs.

Extras

Ford Bend Regional Center remains deeply involved in the youth prevention program from which it originated. FBRC’s prevention program is based on the idea that children educated on the dangers of drugs and alcohol are less likely to use addictive substances. There are 16 youth prevention counselors who lead small group exercises and one-on-one sessions on school campuses across Fort Bend County. The program sees thousands of students every day.

In Summary

The Fort Bend Regional Council is committed to providing safe and effective treatment options to clients ready to take charge of their substance abuse issues. The basic program may not offer an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) but it does provide flexible payment plans (with grants and loans) to help all clients get the help they need regardless of their ability to pay. The program relies heavily on group therapy and person-to-person interaction, with hope of fostering hope in the community at large.
