Five Stars Recovery CenterFive Stars Recovery Center Review

Five Stars Recovery Center, located in Chaska, Minnesota, began in 2006. Its mission is to provide sober living and outpatient treatment for men and women who are recovering from addiction. The unique program provides combined treatment and structured living. There are many housing facilities available, based on the needs of the individuals.

Sunshine House was the original facility, encouraging a positive lifestyle while integrating clients’ interaction with the outside community. In 2007 after high demand, Liberty House opened its doors to women in need of a safe, abstinence-based sober living home. In 2008, Jefferson House rose from the ground in Shakopee, Minnesota. Come 2010 and 2011, two more sober living houses were added to the Chaska area, Faber House and C.H. Klein Mansion. In 2011, Sloughton Sober House was created. Today there are seven sober homes in Chaska, one in Carver and two in Shakopee, Minnesota.

Treatment and Staff

Five Stars Recovery Center offers three treatment options: outpatient, sober living or a combo of both where clients learn basic living skills and are required to attend multiple Five Star outpatient groups. This provides a higher level of client accountability than primary outpatient treatment. Clients are housed in an off-site sober facility and transported to and from the client service center.

Outpatient treatment here is intended for individuals who have been diagnosed as chemically dependent. Part I includes a chemical health and family education lecture video series where families are encouraged to attend. Part I is 20 two-hour sessions three times a week. During outpatient Part II, the client learns to rely on support for sobriety outside of the treatment setting. Clients attend four two-hour sessions in Part II, once a week. Clients also begin learning to live a new sober lifestyle and to assume personal responsibility for themselves in recovery. A professionally led Fourth Step preparation group is provided at no charge. Part I and II are both available days or evenings.

Clients are encouraged to go to 12-step meetings, have sponsors, abide by curfews and seek employment. Clients are required to show written proof of attending three 12-step meetings per week and maintain consistent contact with a sponsor.

Extras

The requirements for Five Star Recovery Center sober living for outpatient treatment are that clients must have already detoxed, be at least 18 years old and commit for no less than 90 days. Those on house arrest or with sex crime or arson history are not eligible. Residents must find 12-step sponsors within two weeks, have to attend three AA/NA meetings per week and are required to work 40 hours a week at a day job.

At the sober living facilities, there are private and shared rooms. Telephone, cable, Internet, bedding, laundry and household supplies are provided. All homes adhere to a zero tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol and offer a highly structured arrangement.

All facilities are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health, which provides food and housing supplementation for qualified clients.

In Summary

With many options and a reasonable cost, Five Stars Recovery Center is a safe haven for those who need a place to live while getting sober.
