Finger Lakes Addictions Counseling and Referral Agency Review
Finger Lakes Addictions Counseling and Referral Agency was founded in 1973 as a non-profit substance abuse treatment provider with a variety of programs and services offered to the Finger Lakes community in upstate New York. With a home base in Clifton Springs, FLACRA has over ten locations spanning across the five-county Finger Lakes Region giving clients access to a wide network of professional care and resources. FLACRA offers both short and long-term residential and outpatient care as well as community living.
Food and Accommodations
Accommodations for the Community Residences are a dormitory-style facility with separate buildings for treatment and administration. Residents sleep two to a room with shared bathrooms on each floor. Common areas include a recreation room, a living room, plenty of outdoor space and a fully equipped kitchen. Meals are provided three times a day and include healthy options such as salads, fish, sandwiches and fresh fruit and vegetables.
Treatment and Staff
There are a range of treatment programs offered by FLACRA including the Addictions Crisis Center (ACC), the Community Residences and the outpatient clinics. The ACC is a short-term residential program for those in need of immediate care and offers detox services, a safe environment for withdrawal and referrals to one of the other internal FLACRA programs. Clients typically stay at the ACC for seven to 10 days but can stay for up to 21 days.
The Community Residences are a long-term residential treatment program inviting clients to stay anywhere from three to 10 months. Treatment consists of addiction education, daily group therapy, weekly individual therapy and family therapy if desired. The 12 steps are not integrated into the treatment program, but clients may be referred to local chapters if desired.
The outpatient program includes the same components as the residential programs, but does not have the same strict structure. Clients schedule their own individual and family sessions and attend any of the group sessions offered throughout the week.
The staff at FLACRA consists of LPCs, CADCs, LCSWs, MFTs and a clinical psychologist.
Extras
In addition to the comprehensive substance abuse treatment programs, FLACRA also offers several other services to their clients such as vocational services. The Vocational Education Program is offered weekly to those staying at the community residences and the supportive living homes.
