Family United New Beginnings Review
Family United New Beginnings offers basic outpatient treatment to individuals of all ages dealing with mental health and substance abuse disorders. Located in Palmdale, California, treatment consists of individual therapy sessions using evidence-based modalities including CBT and DBT. Those with co-occurring disorders are provided therapeutic support though these programs do not include medication management.
Treatment and Staff
Upon beginning treatment at FUNB, clients must undergo an initial evaluation to determine a proper level of care. Once approved for enrollment, each participant is assigned to a therapist who helps them develop an individualized treatment plan. Those in need of medication management services are given referrals upon request.
Duration of treatment and frequency of individual therapy varies from client to client, though typically all attend two 50-minute sessions a week. Topics discussed in these sessions include anger management, co-occurring disorders, relapse prevention, the disease of addiction, coping skills, anger management, depression and anxiety. Aside from therapy, participation in a 12-step program is also encouraged. Staff members can provide clients with meeting directories upon request though attendance of AA/NA meetings is not strictly required. The team at FUNB includes LPCs, MFTs and psychologists.
Extras
FUNB also offers marriage and family therapy with MFTs who address issues such as divorce, domestic violence, parenting skills and communication. These services are available as a la carte options, though clients enrolled in outpatient can also invite their family members or loved ones to participate in therapy with them.
Anger management classes are offered through a 52 week structured program. During classes, a facilitator focuses on teaching adults how to maintain control and recognize triggers that can lead to violent behavior. Each individual engaged in the program is provided a workbook, weekly assignments and is asked to participate in the activities of the program.
Domestic violence prevention classes and parenting classes are held on a weekly basis. Classes are educational and discussion based with homework assigned in hopes of reinforcing topics. The DV program is approved by the Los Angeles County Probation Department. Individual sessions are scheduled as needed.
Lastly, there are case management services such as life skills training, money management, and social skills training.
In Summary
At Family United New Beginnings, clients get access to customized support in a private setting. All individual sessions utilize evidence-based therapies and can be scheduled on an as-needed basis to accommodate personal schedules. This comprehensive outpatient substance abuse and mental health facility offers affordable and flexible programming for clients seeking a recovery community and a credentialed staff.
