payette idahoFamily Services Review

Family Services offers outpatient substance abuse treatment from three facilities in Idaho; one in Emmett, one in Payette and the third in McCall. Emmett and Payette are small cities just 30 miles apart from each other each with fewer than 10,000 residents. The third facility in the resort town of McCall is located about 100 miles north of Emmett. Clients enrolled in treatment at any of these locations can expect a dual diagnosis component to evidence-based recovery programs.

Treatment and Staff

After an initial evaluation which includes a urinalysis test, clients are enrolled in either an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or a standard outpatient track, both offered at each of the three locations. Clients in need of medical detox must be referred to an accommodating facility before beginning treatment as these services are not available on-site.

FS’s IOP consists of three 90-minute group therapy sessions a week and at least one individual therapy session, all led by LADCs. Because many clients attend as a result of a court mandate, FS uses Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) in addition to CBT. Group sessions typically have 10 clients participating at a time. There is no 12-step component to treatment at FS, though clients are referred to community meetings. Participants can expect special group sessions to address relevant subjects such as anger management, domestic violence and relapse prevention. Clients can also participate in a family program when applicable.

Treatment also includes dual-diagnosis support in the form of group and individual counseling sessions focused on co-occurring disorders. These are lead by counselors who are certified to address mental health issues. Still, medication management is not provided nor is there an on-staff psychiatrist.

Extras

Though FS typically only offers aftercare for those participating in treatment due to a drug court sentencing, self-referred clients have a lot of freedom determining how long to remain in treatment. While an average program tends to last about six months, some clients have continued services from the facility for up to two years.

Serving as a recovery resource for the surrounding rural communities of Payette, Gem and Valley County, FS also provides special programs for active duty military clients, LGBT clients, pregnant/postpartum women and senior and adolescent services. Trauma-informed care is also available.

In Summary

Given the breadth of its services and its many locations, Family Services is a valuable resource to Payette, Gem and Valley Counties. Clients can enroll in either basic outpatient or an IOP with a mental health component featuring group and individual therapy sessions and a host of programs addressing a variety of needs. For individuals requiring flexible treatment with a group component for developing a recovery community, Family Services is a solid choice.
