high point north carolinaFamily Services of the Piedmont Review

Family Service of the Piedmont is a non-profit outpatient facility that has provided the residents of Greensboro and High Point, North Carolina with comprehensive behavioral health and substance abuse treatment since 1999. FSP offers individualized care through individual and group therapy, as well as support for co-occurring disorders for adult men and women.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning treatment at FSP, all clients go through a clinical assessment to develop individualized treatment plans. Depending on the severity of the addiction (or if a client is referred from the court system), a program lasting 12 weeks may require two group sessions and one individual session per week. If it is determined that a client may require a less intensive program, they may begin treatment with only one group or one-on-one session per week.

All treatment at FSP is evidence-based, using elements of the Matrix Model, CBT and psycho-educational lectures. The programs emphasize the importance of treating not just the symptoms of addiction but the person as a whole. Clients are also encouraged to attend outside AA/NA meetings while participating in treatment at FSP, even though the facility’s programs are not rooted in the 12 steps themselves. Additionally, there are gender-specific and trauma-focused groups as well as anger management sessions available.

Staff work with clients to develop relapse prevention plans. For those with a dual diagnosis, an on-site psychiatrist provides medication management services. The facility has flexible treatment hours with both day and evening sessions availability. FSP employs licensed and certified caseworkers, psychologists, LCSWs, CSACs, psychiatrists and RNs.

Extras

After clients complete the first stage of treatment, there is an option to continue with aftercare, typically in the form of group therapy once a week. There’s also a Family Service program providing family counseling and treatment for adolescents. Additional specialty services include domestic violence issues, employee assistance programs and family support and a program called Healthy Start designed for pregnant women or families with children two and under.

In Summary

Family Services of the Piedmont provides complete behavioral health care as well as prevention and outreach services. Treatment is rooted in evidence-based care, with support for those with co-occurring disorders and for families. In all, Family Services of the Piedmont strives to provide family-friendly and affordable care to those in Greensboro.
