Families Matter, LLC Review
Families Matter, LLC is an outpatient treatment facility located in Villas, New Jersey. Services include mental health support for children, adolescents and adults as well as substance abuse treatment for adults ages 18 and over. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) consists of individual and group therapy as well as medication management for those dealing with co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment at FMLLC begins with an initial assessment during which clients meet with a drug and alcohol counselor who helps determine the proper level of care. For those in need of dual-diagnosis support, there is a psychiatric nurse practitioner located on-site who can provide medication management.
IOP is a 36-week program that meets for group and individual therapy on a weekly basis. Group therapy takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in the morning and evening. Clients are placed in either the morning or evening group depending on their availability. Morning groups meet from 10 am to 1 pm while evening groups meet from 5 to 8 pm. All groups are co-ed and consist of about 10 to 15 people at a time.
An LADC leads each of these three hour-long sessions, discussing topics such as anger management, coping skills, communication skills, trauma processing, psychoeducation, substance abuse awareness and the disease of addiction. Individual therapy sessions are also offered as a supplement to groups. These sessions are scheduled once a week for about an hour at a time. Participation in a 12-step program is not mandatory though meeting directories are available upon request.
Therapists at FMLLC are LADCs trained in CBT and DBT. There is also an on-site psychiatric nurse practitioner and child psychologists who offer individual therapy to children and adolescents struggling with mental health disorders.
Extras
After completing IOP, clients can step down to relapse prevention aftercare groups. This portion of treatment lasts 12 weeks, during which clients attend one group therapy session a week. Relapse prevention groups are held on Mondays from 9 to 11 am and on Wednesdays from 5 to 7 pm. This is required to finish treatment, though it comes at an extra cost.
