Founded in 1984, Fall Creek Counseling provides a variety of outpatient recovery services with three locations in Indianapolis (called Fall Creek East, West and South, respectively). It has an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), counseling and relapse prevention services.

Treatment and Staff

Fall Creek Counseling’s offices are suites in office buildings with conference rooms for group sessions. While there are no meals provided as part of the program, there is free coffee for clients.

The outpatient services are designed for clients with clear patterns of compulsive alcohol and drug abuse, but who are also able to maintain basic daily routines and who have access to community support. The IOP program consists of 90minute group sessions, led by licensed substance abuse counselors. Clients are expected to attend three of these sessions a week for their first two months of treatment, followed by a program of aftercare which lasts three months with one group session per week.

While Fall Creek Counseling does promote the 12-step approach, group sessions tend to prioritize evidence-based methods. These include Motivational Interviewing (MI), CBT and emotional self-regulation strategies. Fall Creek Counseling also offers a variety of specific classes clients can take to supplement their program. For example, the East location has a class specifically designed to address marijuana abuse that lasts ten weeks and costs $150; the South location offers a similar five-week program for the same price. Finally, each location also offers gender-specific groups for female clients.

Relapse prevention programs are offered at all three locations, consisting of two group sessions a week for ten to 15 weeks, followed by one session a week for 12 weeks. This program works to develop  personalized recovery plans as well as communication skills. Twelve-step is integrated here as well, with clients expected to attend two AA/NA meetings a week, get a sponsor and complete the first three steps.

Extras

As an added bonus, Fall Creek Counseling offers the “PRIme for Life” program for those who have not established a clear pattern of alcohol or drug abuse but are still at-risk. This intervention program is often offered to younger clients and first-time alcohol or drug offenders. Depending on the client, it is available as either a 12- or 20-hour course.

Fall Creek Counseling conducts all their core programs in both English and Spanish, including IOP, PRIme for Life and relapse prevention.

In Summary

With a long history in the Indianapolis area, Fall Creek Counseling offers a comprehensive menu of recovery services at an affordable cost. For the initial eight weeks of IOP, the cost per week is a mere $40, with further fee reductions available based on a client’s income. In addition to affordability, clients also have the ability to tailor their program to meet their individual needs by taking advantage of a wide variety of on-site classes. Those seeking cost-effective outpatient care in Indianapolis would do well to consider one of Fall Creek Counseling’s locations.
