Fairhaven Treatment Center Review
Fairhaven Treatment Center of Cordova, Tennessee is a CARF accredited eating disorder facility for women. It offers both residential and outpatient tracks designed to treat anorexia, bulimia, PTSD and co-occurring disorders, and/or an additional substance use disorder or self harm behaviors. Teri Hardister McCann founded Fairhaven in 2003 to fill a void in the Memphis area for comprehensive eating disorder care. Programming is comprised of evidence-based therapy approaches in a group and individual setting, along with holistic methods, meal support and extensive nutritional counseling.
Accommodations and Food
The Fairhaven residential facility was originally a single family home. The house sits on nine acres of heavily wooded land in the Memphis area that is private, quiet and serene. The modernly decorated residence has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. The bedrooms sleep between two and three clients in each depending on the room size. There is a large kitchen with new appliances, a formal dining room, living room with a fireplace and TV, meeting and meditation rooms and ample outdoor space.
There are three meals and snacks served per day, all of which are prepared freshly on site with organic ingredients. The menus are all designed by the staff nutritionist.
Treatment and Staff
Clients begin their days around 6:30 am where they get their vitals taken then head to the first supported meal of the day, followed immediately after by a process group. The rest of the day consists of CBT and DBT groups, body movement or trauma-informed yoga, or a nutritional planning group session. There are also expressive therapy groups, like art and music therapy, along with relapse prevention, EMDR, social anxiety or Family Systems therapy. Along with nutritional education and meal planning, clients have outings where they go grocery shopping with a dietitian on a regular basis.
A large portion of treatment uses trauma-informed programming and focuses on improving body image, body dysmorphia, and introduces coping and life skills throughout treatment. Upon admission clients have an assessment that includes a meeting with a psychiatrist. There are medication management services overseen by the medical staff, who visit clients on a weekly basis.
The large and very accomplished treatment team includes medical doctors, psychiatric nurses, registered dietitians, LPCs, MSWs, chefs and residential support staff.

While living in the residential program, clients can expect recreational outings like movie nights or bowling.
