Exodus Clinic Review
Exodus Clinic is an outpatient behavioral health facility located in Monroe, New York. The goal at EC is to help clients with co-occurring disorders using evidence-based treatments and medication management. All clients are enrolled in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults ages 18 and older. In general, clients attend individual and group therapy sessions on a weekly basis.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment at EC, clients first undergo a phone screening process. After the assessment, each client is scheduled for an in-person evaluation. For those in need of support for addiction to heroin or painkillers, Suboxone services are available.
Treatment at EC is tailored to adults with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders and consists of a six month IOP. Group therapy sessions are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. A substance abuse counselor leads these three-hour sessions discussing topics such as relapse prevention, communication skills, coping skills, anger management, trauma processing, co-occurring disorders, faith and the disease of addiction. Individual therapy sessions are scheduled as needed. Each client schedules one individual session with a psychiatrist as well as one individual session with a substance abuse counselor every week.
Participation in a 12-step program is not mandatory though it is encouraged. While there are no on-site meetings, staff members can refer clients to local meetings in the community upon request. Staff members at EC include a psychiatrist, a nurse, a CASAC and social workers. Treatment methods include evidence-based modalities like CBT and DBT.
Extras
At EC, family members and loved ones are invited to take part in recovery through family therapy scheduled as needed. Family sessions use a discussion based and educational approach, all while also focusing on the disease of addiction.
