Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle (EBTCS) is an expansive behavioral health group founded in 2002 by three psychologists. Today, the organization provides flexible outpatient care for a variety of mental health conditions in four different specialized programs. Theses include the DBT Center, Anxiety Center, Child Anxiety Center and Eating Disorders Center. The Eating Disorders Center is designed for individuals with diagnoses such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, compulsive exercising and body dysmorphic disorder among others.
Treatment and Staff
The EBTCS Eating Disorders Center is available for both adults and adolescents. Before beginning a program, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop individualized treatment plans. Treatment programs are available for both men and women with dual diagnosis support built in for addiction and mental illness. While the specifics may vary, all treatment plans include both individual and group therapy that utilize evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT.
The specialized adolescent eating disorder program is for those ages 13 to 18. The program is tailored to the clients’ specific needs, but may include individual therapy, family meetings and skills training classes. The adolescent program incorporates the Maudsley approach. This method of treating child and adolescent eating disorders encourages parents to take an active and positive role in helping their child return to good physical health and resuming normal psychological and social development. Unlike many more traditional therapies for adolescents that may exclude parents, the Maudsley approach considers parents a positive and crucial resource in their child’s successful recovery. Siblings are also included in this treatment. Sessions are typically held weekly with the whole family.
Case management help may include additional services such as referrals for vocational skills training, job placement help and aftercare planning.
Overall, EBTCS Eating Disorders Center provides flexible and individualized treatment for those struggling with a variety of food issues. With evidence-based care, a strong family component for adolescents and case management EBTCS Eating Disorders Center is a great choice.
