Enlightened Behavioral Health Systems Review
Located in San Antonio, Texas, Enlightened Behavioral Health Systems (EBHS) provides a full continuum of care for substance abuse and mental health disorders. Programs offered by EBHS include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and outpatient mental health care for adults with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Treatment implements evidence-based practices in addition to 12-step support and individualized care.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, all clients go through an initial assessment to help staff members develop individualized treatment plans. For those in need of high-level care, the PHP offers clients about three hours of treatment five days a week. Groups meet Mondays through Fridays, starting at 9 am and ending at 12:45 pm. The IOP consists of clients joining the same group for a minimum of three days a week of therapy. The type and duration of outpatient care depends completely on the individual and can last up to 12 weeks.
While each plan may vary somewhat, each includes individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based practices, such as CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Sessions can be gender-specific or co-ed, and address topics like relapse prevention, stress management, mindfulness and life skills. Individual sessions are scheduled on an as-needed basis for each client.
The program also includes recommendations for 12-step meeting participation in the community for most clients. Dual diagnosis support is available with medication management as necessary.
The staff consists of CADCs, case managers, physicians, nurses and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Aftercare includes referrals to local meetings, therapists or ongoing individual case management services at EBHS.
Transportation and meals are provided for clients attending PHP. This facility offers a weekend family program that includes psychoeducation and counseling.
