Encompass Health Services Review
Founded in 1982, Encompass Health Services is a non-profit organization serving the community of Northern Arizona with behavioral health and medical care. Outpatient substance abuse treatment is available at facilities in Page, Fredonia and Little Field, Arizona. Treatment is limited to individual therapy which focuses on teaching clients healthy coping skills using evidence-based therapies.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to beginning treatment at EHS, all clients must undergo an initial assessment to determine the severity of their addiction. Detox is available with a referral at a nearby facility.
After clients have been assessed and stabilized, they can begin attending hour-long individual therapy sessions which delve into the issues underlying their addictions. The frequency of sessions depends on each individual. Typically, clients start out with one session per week and gradually decrease over time. Therapy primarily utilizes CBT to help clients challenge their negative thinking patterns. Sessions are highly individualized, giving the client the exact care that they need. Though the 12 steps are not built into the recovery program at EHS, AA concepts may be introduced during treatment depending on the individual.
Clients can also come to the facility for family or couples’ counseling. During these sessions, issues around trust, communication, boundaries, respect and codependency can be addressed. For those struggling with co-occurring mental health issues, psychiatrists are available for medication management. The staff at Encompass Health Services consists of Master’s-level therapists and psychiatrists.
Extras
EHS offers a full continuum of medical services as well as counseling for issues like mental health, trauma, anger management and domestic violence. For those who have been convicted of DUIs, there are two group education classes per week. Classes utilize the Matrix Model, going over relapse prevention, life skills, coping mechanisms and processing. There is also a group class on domestic violence and a sober living program called Mending Rock.
In Summary
In all, Encompass Health Services offers individualized substance abuse treatment rooted in evidence based therapy. Though this basic outpatient treatment is limited to individual therapy, clients develop skills helping them to process their emotions and learn new coping skills. Overall, Encompass Health Services is a good option for those seeking lower intensity treatment.
