With locations in Arleta, Azusa, Panorama City and Winnetka, California, El Proyecto del Barrio is a broad network of healthcare facilities that provide affordable and community-oriented healthcare throughout California. The organization is a subsidiary of the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County, which offers a wide range of affordable care services. In addition to basic medical help, these facilities also offer basic outpatient behavioral health support for addiction and co-occurring disorders as well.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members determine their needs. While detox services are not available on-site, those in need can get referrals to nearby programs as necessary. Once stabilized, clients can begin customized programs which include individual and group therapy with evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT and trauma-informed care. While basic dual diagnosis support for issues like depression and anxiety may be available, those in need of more intensive psychiatric help may need to seek out additional resources. Groups cover a range of topics including emotional processing, addiction as a disease, parenting skills, life skills, anger management and relapse prevention. Though programs may differ by individual, 12-step participation is generally included.
The staff at El Proyecto del Barrio consists of RNs, LVNs, MDs, case managers, LPCs, LMHCs and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
The organization also offers Spanish-speaking services whenever necessary and has specific programs providing perinatal care. Counseling services for LGBTQ clients are also available as are standalone psychological assessments, urinalysis tests and HIV/AIDS educational seminars. Counseling for sexual abuse and domestic violence is provided as well. Finally, some locations may also offer free child care for children up to five years old to parents attending treatment. Those who complete primary care can also work with case managers to develop stepped down aftercare plans.
In all, El Proyecto del Barrio offers a diverse array of treatment services to individuals and families struggling with a number of behavioral health issues. While each plan is relatively individualized, treatment includes evidence-based care, medical oversight and 12-step support whenever necessary, all at a reasonable price. For those in the area seeking an affordable and flexible outpatient option, El Proyecto del Barrio is a strong resource worth considering.
