Edelweiss Behavioral Health Review
Edelweiss Behavioral Health is an outpatient eating disorder treatment facility based out of Madison, Wisconsin. Edelweiss offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that promotes overall wellness and recovery for both adolescents and adults. The team at Edelweiss fosters a holistic approach to care via individual and group therapy, life and coping skills, and a number of therapeutic activities and experiences.
Treatment and Staff
The adolescent IOP meets in the mornings three days a week, and the adults meet in the evenings. During these meetings clients can expect supported meals, nutritional counseling and skill based group therapy. At the beginning of treatment, clients of all ages have a psychological evaluation and, if necessary, are able to receive medication management. As the clients progress through their treatment they can qualify to step down to the standard outpatient program, which generally meets only once a week or once every three weeks. It entails an individual session. If it seems like the IOP isn’t having a positive effect on the clients, Edelweiss assists in placing the individual into a more intensive program and offers support throughout that transition to both the client and his or her family.
In addition to the IOP and OP, there are several group support counseling options offered at the facility. These groups run between once a week to twice a month and are an extra layer of support for clients and loved ones. There is a group for those who are maintaining their recovery that meets twice a month in the evenings for an hour. It focuses on skill development and processing. Additionally, a caregiver group for parents of children with an eating disorder is available, as is a weekend adolescent group that includes a meal followed by a process session.
Other comprehensive services include assisting in creating meal plans, weight monitoring, education in regards to balanced diets and navigating fad diets.
Staff at Edelweiss Behavioral Health includes registered dietitians, LPCs, psychiatrists, a yoga instructor, clinical psychologists and SACs.

In addition to therapy, Edelweiss offers therapeutic yoga that is trauma-informed and body positive.
