Ebby’s Place Review

Ebby’s Place is a Fort Worth, Texas based structured sober living and transitional housing facility for men. It offers spiritual guidance, mainly through the 12-step principles, under the umbrella of Brazos Recovery Services. Ebby’s facilitates a recovery monitoring program and sober coaching, along with relapse prevention and individualized recovery planning in a supportive environment.

Accommodations and Amenities

Clients reside in a one-story, four-bedroom, brick home in a quiet residential neighborhood close to restaurants, shops and grocery stores. The facility can accommodate up to eight people who share the bedrooms and the two bathrooms. The interior is spacious and tastefully decorated with hardwood flooring throughout, and a large living room with two couches and flat screen TV. Both cable and Wi-Fi are provided. There is also a washer and dryer on site.

There is a formal dining room where clients have meals. The kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils and some basic staples, but residents are primarily responsible for acquiring their preferred food.

The facility provides everything that the clients should need during their stay including linens and cleaning supplies. There is a rotating schedule of chores that need to be completed on a daily basis, but otherwise the clients are granted a lot of independence and expected to be self-sufficient.

Rules and Regulations

Accountability is a main component of the Ebby’s House philosophy and though clients are in different phases of their recovery, everyone is responsible for adhering to the house guidelines. Within the first two weeks each client needs to secure employment or be enrolled in school while attending at least three AA or NA meetings weekly and get a sponsor. There are also house meetings on a weekly basis and check-in with the house manager.

Part of the services offered through Ebby’s Place are sober monitoring and coaching from certified professionals. This entails the client going through as assessment and designing a personalized goal plan, then assisting with the coordination of any program needs the client might require. They can be connected to a peer support community, taught relapse prevention techniques and/or assisted with aftercare planning. The sober monitoring program lasts about a year.

Ebby’s Place asks that the clients commit to 90 days but the average stay is anywhere from six months to a year. Additionally, there are sober coaches who offer their time and guidance to the clients on an ongoing basis.

The staff of Ebby’s Place and Brazos Recovery Services includes LCDCs, LCSWs, case workers and peer advocates.

In Summary

The program at Ebby’s Place aims to help clients get back on their feet and discover what it’s like to live a healthy life in sobriety. This is achieved by holding each individual to a higher standard while they are provided with a safe and supportive place to reside.
