Eating Recovery Center Outpatient Review
With facilities in California, Texas, Washington, Illinois, Ohio, Colorado and South Carolina, Eating Recovery Center is the nation’s largest provider of treatment for eating disorders and related behavioral issues. The company was founded in 2008 and offers flexible programs for adults and adolescents. In addition to its inpatient options, the organization also provides outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP).
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members place them in an appropriate program. Though it is often not used explicitly for drug detox services, those who need to stabilize can attend one of the organization’s inpatient programs before continuing to outpatient care. While standard outpatient plans can vary significantly to fit each client’s schedule, IOP generally consists of nine hours of therapy a week in three, three-hour sessions. The most intensive option is PHP, which meets for six hours a day, five days a week.
All programs include both individual and group therapy with evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Group sessions also include art therapy, emotional processing, psychodrama, recovery skills, relapse prevention techniques, trauma-informed care, yoga, psychoeducation, cooking skills and nutritional counseling. IOP and PHP tracks also include supervised meals and snacks with support for a range of dietary restrictions. Dual diagnosis support is available for a range of co-occurring disorders as well, including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression and substance abuse. While 12-step participation is not strictly required, clients are encouraged to attend peer support groups in addition to treatment at their discretion. Family therapy can be added into each of the above programs as well.
The staffs at Eating Recovery Centers’ facilities consist of LCSWs, RDNs, psychiatric nurses, Certified Eating Disorder Specialists (CEDS), LPCs, CADCs, LCPCs, psychologists, MDs, case managers and additional Master’s and PhD-level counselors.
Extras
Eating Recovery Center also offers more intensive programs in the form of the aforementioned inpatient and residential treatment programs in Bellevue, Washington; Chicago, Illinois; Dallas, Texas and Denver, Colorado. Those who complete primary care can also work with staff members to develop stepped down aftercare plans.
