Eating Disorder Center of Montana Review
Based out of Bozeman, Montana, Eating Disorder Center of Montana is a behavioral health facility with outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for clients struggling with eating disorders and related behavioral health issues. The curriculum is multi-faceted and includes evidence-based therapy as well as an array of holistic care methods as well.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, all clients go through an intake and assessment process to help the staff place them in an appropriate program. As a non-inpatient program, those in need of medical stabilization or detox need to seek these services elsewhere before continuing with treatment. Once stabilized, participants can attend IOP for six to 15 hours a week or PHP for seven hours per day for five days a week. Those who want a more flexible option can also design a standard outpatient program that fits their needs.
Treatment consists of individual, group and family therapy with evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and EMDR. Treatment approaches also include Narrative Therapy and other psychodynamic approaches. Because the program is so focused on food, clients also do supervised eating sessions with clinicians as well as food outings as a form of exposure therapy. While 12-step recovery is not always required, it may be encouraged in some cases.
The staff at the Eating Disorder Center of Montana consists of psychiatrists, LMFTs, LPCs, dietitians, Certified Eating Disorder Specialists (CEDSs), LCSWs and additional Master’s-level clinicians. Dual diagnosis support and medication management services are available as well.
Extras
Groups also cover holistic care methods including art therapy, yoga, nutrition and life skills.
For those who enter the program with pre-selected nutritionists, physicians or doctors, the Eating Disorder Center of Montana staff can work with them to coordinate each client’s care plan. Treatment is flexible enough to allow those who work or attend school to maintain their schedules as well. Once participants complete a treatment plan, they can also work with staff members to develop step-down aftercare plans as necessary.
In Summary
Overall, the Eating Disorder Center of Montana provides well-rounded treatment programs dedicated to helping clients struggling with eating disorders and related behavioral health issues. Treatment plans are flexible and individualized, each with evidence-based practices, meal support, holistic care and psychiatric oversight. Although the cost of treatment is likely to vary by insurance and program specifics, the Eating Disorder Center of Montana remains a strong option for those in the area.
