Bellevue WashingtonEastside Center for Family Review

The Eastside Center for Family is an outpatient treatment facility located in Bellevue, Washington—a satellite city east of Seattle. Offering multiple treatment tracks and gender-specific groups, ECF was founded in 2011 by lead therapist Laura J. Halford who developed this comprehensive program out of her own private practice that started in 2004. In addition to chemical dependency treatment, ECF offers continuing care programs as well as support groups and parenting classes for families.

Treatment and Staff

ECF allows for clients to have an individualized treatment experience. All clients schedule an initial appointment for an assessment with a counselor who places them in the ideal treatment track for their needs. There are no detox services available but if staff believe a medical detox is appropriate prior to enrollment, the client is referred to a recommended facility.

ECF’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is the primary model for treatment at the facility. For twelve weeks, clients engage in therapeutic activities under the guidance of clinical staff members. Three times per week, clients attend on-site sessions and work towards cultivating their recovery with two sessions dedicated to group therapy facilitated with the Stages of Change Model, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and the Systematic Family Systems model. The 12 steps are not incorporated into actual treatment with clients, but clients are strongly encouraged to attend meetings. If clients are not comfortable attending AA/NA meetings, therapists have resources for SMART Recovery, Celebrate Recovery, Buddhist Recovery groups and online recovery support groups.

In addition to group therapy, clients attend one individual therapy session per week. All therapy is facilitated by a staff of Master’s-level therapists and mental health trainees. Staff credentials include Chemical Dependency Professionals (CDP), Chemical Dependency Professional Trainees (CDPT), MFTs and a licensed therapy dog named Daisy Duke. All therapists specialize in treatment of chemical dependency and work diligently with families to provide a holistic treatment experience. Dual-diagnosis support is available for clients with additional mental health concerns and co-occurring disorders.

All clients must adhere to a policy of abstinence during treatment and random drug screenings may be given at any time.

Extras

ECF offers three different styles of aftercare support, all gender-specific and meeting once per week. The professional monitoring continuing care group is for clients who are in employee assistance programs.

The family program at ECF allows family members to come together for support and psychoeducation groups. The Love and Logic parent education group is a course facilitated over the course of six weeks. Clients learn parenting skills and a specific curriculum to advance their abilities to be a healthy support for their loved ones.

ECF offers a closed men’s therapy group for clients with two or more years of recovery. Occurring twice per month, men receive additional support regardless of their prior treatment experience and current mental health status. An initial interview is required to ensure the client is a good fit for the group dynamics.

In Summary

The Eastside Center for Family provides clients and their loved ones the opportunity to advance in their recovery. With an IOP as well as aftercare, clients are gently guided through recovery according to their individual progress. Gender-specific aftercare groups allow for comfort and security while working with therapists. Families may take advantage of support groups and parenting classes to assist in their own recovery and to support their loved one. Overall, ECF is ideal for individuals seeking holistic recovery and flexible treatment options.
