st cloud minnesotaEasthaven Halfway House Review

The Easthaven Halfway House, located in St. Cloud, Minnesota, is a sober living facility for men between the ages of 18 and 89. The program is based on the 12-step model and offers individualized, evidence-based treatment through group and individual therapy.

Accommodations and Amenities

The Easthaven facility is an apartment complex with 12 two-bedroom units, each with a large living room, individual kitchen and bathroom with tub and shower. Each apartment accommodates three clients, two of whom share a double room. Rooms are furnished with full beds, a dresser for every resident and a closet. Each living room has couches and cable TV and the kitchen comes equipped with utensils and basic appliances. Clients are responsible for providing their own food and cooking for themselves. Residents need only bring bedding and towels, cell phones, computers and a bike or a car for transportation.

Easthaven has common areas where clients enjoy down time together including a rec room with a vending machine, dart board, another TV with cable, the house phone and laundry facilities. There is also an on-site meeting room, a meditation space and outdoor sitting area. Though there isn’t a workout room located at the facility, there is a local gym where clients maintain their physical fitness during their stay.

Treatment and Staff

When a client enters the program at Easthaven, they are expected to have either recently completed a residential treatment program or are currently participating in a basic outpatient or Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Everyone is required to get a job, volunteer or register for school so the facility offers both day and night treatment schedules. On-site weekly individual therapy sessions, daily meditation, anger management, coping skills and relapse prevention group sessions are all required. On average, clients participate in six group sessions per week, though the number may differ from client to client depending on work and school schedules.

The programs are based on the 12 steps and utilize evidence based therapy methods like CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). AA meetings are hosted on-site and clients are also encouraged to attend community AA/NA meetings to develop a recovery fellowship. There are medication management services provided that are strictly monitored by the facility staff. The average length of stay at Easthaven is three months, though clients can stay longer if it is deemed necessary.

The facility is staffed with LADCs, LPCs, medical consultants and nurses.

Extras

The facility organizes sober events and recreational activities like dinners, movie nights, BBQs and softball tournaments. Clients may have visitors daily. Weekend passes are given after clients have been in the program for about 30 days.

In Summary

Easthaven Halfway House gives clients a safe place to continue their sober journeys by providing a safe environment where each individual is held to a higher standard. The men at Easthaven learn communication and self-improvement while attending 12-step meetings and reintegrating into society. In all, Easthaven Halfway House is ideal for men seeking a gender-specific recovery community where their days are structured and sobriety is supported.
