Situated on the coast of England in the town of Lowestoft, East Coast Recovery (ECR) is a treatment facility that offers detox and residential care as well as a transitional living program for clients on a step-down basis. The facility provides a multifaceted treatment approach that integrates an array of therapeutic methods including the 12-step recovery model, evidence-based therapy and neuroscientific and holistic methods. Through its secondary and tertiary care transitional living program, ECR offers a recovery community that transcends typical residential facilities where clients continue to learn, become independent and and give back to new residents.
Accommodations and Amenities
Clients in the secondary and tertiary programs stay in the same housing as the individuals in the residential program—Victorian houses that are located a short walk from the beach, and a short drive to several nature preserves and forests. With 12-step as the cornerstone of the ECR treatment model, it is not surprise that the facility fosters a communal atmosphere. Even after completing the residential phase, clients share rooms that are equipped with nice, quality furnishings, storage space and a lot of artwork on the walls. There are plenty of comfortable common rooms in the house for socializing, and clients go frequent outings to bowling alleys or beach trips.
Rules and Regulations
ECR believes that clients in recovery need more time in a structured environment. To this end, the facility offers the “Foundation and Support” programs for clients that have completed the 12 week residential phase. The secondary program typically lasts for 12 weeks immediately following residential treatment, and allows clients more time to further understand the nature of addiction, continue with weekly therapy and help new residents in the detox and residential programs. In addition, the facility provides courses on life skills like communication, budgeting and literacy as well as self-esteem. Individuals in this phase also work at the facility as trainees, support staff, coaches and mentors, with independent living and steady employment as the end goal. Completing the residential stage can be a difficult time and ECR offers this secondary phase to ease the transition back into regular life.
After 24 weeks, ECR offers clients the opportunity to remain in the tertiary program in independent accommodation. While clients at this stage maintain a peer relationship with their 12-step key workers, are active in community support groups and have full employment, they still have access to ECR’s services, including medication management.
Following completion of the tertiary program, the facility assists in relocating the individual close to education and employment opportunities.
Situated minutes from the beach in Lowestoft, East Coast Recovery is an upscale treatment facility that provides a comprehensive recovery program that includes detox, a 12-week residential stage and a lengthy transitional living phase broken up into two stages. ECR believes in the power of a sober community, and clients that have finished the residential phase are given the opportunity to stay at the facility, continue learning and attending 12-step meetings as well as give back to the new residents entering the program. The team here fosters a strong community with transition living clients acting as peer mentors and coaches while at the same time taking life skills classes. For men and women seeking a strong and unique transitional living program rooted in community and education, East Coast Recovery is an excellent option.
