Early Life Child Psychology Center Review

The Early Life Child Psychology Center is a treatment facility that specializes in the care of children and adolescents with a range of mental health disorders like depression and anxiety, learning disorders such as ADHD as well as those on the autistic spectrum. Founded in 2010 by Dr. Frances Thompson, Early Life has two locations in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita, California and Jordan, Utah, about 30 minutes south of Salt Lake City. The facility integrates the fields of child psychology, child education and special education law in order to provide innovative diagnostic testing, therapy and educational assistance.

Treatment and Staff

Early Life provides psychological assessments for the treatment of an array of disorders that affect the emotional and intellectual health of child and adolescent clients. The facility tests and diagnoses a number of conditions including ADHD, behavioral issues, eating and sleeping disorders, anxiety in addition to familial and social issues like bullying, peer interaction problems, divorce and grief. To be successful, Early Life expects the parents and teachers of clients to take responsibility and collaborate in the process.

Clients beginning treatment at Early Life undergo an intake evaluation to help the team design the most effective action plan to meet the unique needs of the individual. This initial assessment is completed by licensed clinicians who will gather information about the child’s needs and perform either an IQ exam or a screener of their cognitive functioning. The cognitive functioning exam will be utilized throughout the 16-week program as a baseline to measure the child’s progress.

If the parent chooses, the facility provides the option of a comprehensive assessment that includes cognitive, academic and emotional components. In addition, parents can seek a consultation with a child education advocate. Following completion of the assessment, Early Life clinicians and teachers collaborate to design the most effective program tailored to the child’s specific needs. This includes treatment plans as well as tutoring. This is also the time when the facility will discuss clinical fees and payments. Early Life utilizes an approach to therapy that is tailored to meet the developmental, social, emotional and behavioral needs of the child or adolescent. The facility designs both short and long-term treatment that utilizes CBT therapy and assessments.

The multidisciplinary teams at the Early Life Child Psychology Centers are comprised of clinical psychologists, MFTs, mental health counselors and cognitive tutors. Tutors do not provide therapy, but do apply the findings of the client’s tests.

Extras

Early Life encourages early detection for cognitive issues in infants and toddlers, and provides developmental testing that ultimately gives parents a greater understanding of the child’s needs and preferred ways of interacting.

In Summary

Early Life Child Psychology Center is a treatment facility that specializes in the care of children and adolescents struggling with mental, behavioral and cognitive disorders. Early Life provides comprehensive diagnostic testing as well as treatment at two locations in Southern California and in Utah. For parents seeking comprehensive treatment and testing tailored to meet the unique needs of their child, Early Life is an excellent choice.
