With two facilities on Florida’s Treasure Coast, Dream Center for Recovery offers inpatient and outpatient substance abuse and addiction services. Founded in 2014, Dream Center offers a holistic approach to recovery, set along beautiful Florida beaches.
Accommodations and Food
Catering to men and women aged over 18, Dream Center Estates consists of three gender-specific home-like residences set on an eight acre ranch. Up to 18 clients are housed, two to a room, with the opportunity for private rooms if space permits. The spacious grounds allow for a wide range of on-site activities, including organic gardening, basketball, volleyball, swimming, ping pong and horseback riding at the equestrian center. A multi-purpose rec room is also available for movie nights and other activities.
At the other property, Dream Center Castle, up to 12 men are housed in a large castle-style home. A tropical landscape and serene environment, which include basketball courts, swimming pool and hot tub, encourage clients to spend time outdoors. The rooms and bathrooms are large, with two men in each room, and there are multiple common areas to which clients can retreat.
Nutritious meals are prepared and served daily by the on-site chefs at both locations.
Treatment and Staff
Dream Center For Recovery offers highly individualized treatment plans for its clients. Treatment length is determined by the client, but typically lasts 30-45 days. Clients are encouraged to stay as long as they need. Medical detox is not offered on-site, but if required, Dream Center works with other facilities to supervise detox and then have the client moved into residential treatment on completion.
Dream Center offers a highly structured environment, which includes transporting clients on weekdays to the Dream Center clinical center, where each individual will receive care according to their needs. After a full day of treatment, clients are taken off-site to 12-step meetings. Treatment consists of individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy using a CBT approach and trauma resolution therapy using EMDR, if necessary. Dual diagnosis support is typically provided in one-on-one sessions.
The Dream Center Recovery’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) meets three evenings a week for three hour groups. Basic outpatient care is also available and schedules vary, based on the individual. These programs are offered to clients who need a less structured substance abuse recovery program that offers flexibility with schedules and allows the client to continue working and living in their community. It is also offered to clients that complete the inpatient program as part of their aftercare.
Outpatient clients are also offered individual therapy, trauma resolution therapy, anger management and relapse prevention. Additionally, dual diagnosis counseling is available, and participation in 12-step programs is encouraged. The outpatient clients have the option to reside in a small apartment complex, three or four clients to a gender-specific unit. The three-tiered system allows clients gradually more freedom and responsibility as they gain trust.
The staff at Dream Center includes Master’s-level therapists, a medical doctor, psychiatrist, CADCs, a chiropractor and case managers. There are at least two Behavioral Health Technicians present 24/7, who supervise, transport and report to case managers and psychiatrists.
Extras
Holistic treatment is strongly supported, and methods include acupuncture, yoga, massage therapy, meditation and nutritional coaching. Other alternative therapeutic methods include expressive therapy, adventure therapy and music therapy. Weekend activities also encourage the healing of both mind and body. These include fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle-boarding and beach outings, horseback riding, cookouts, bowling, movie nights, softball games, personal reflection and spiritual renewal.
The equine therapy program encourages inpatient clients to learn empathy, compassion, how to relate to others in a meaningful way and to develop new behaviors. Life skills training provides those new to recovery with tools to help apply new ways of thinking and behaviors to everyday situations, and to identify and prevent relapse.
