Doorway To Recovery Review
With locations in the Seattle suburbs of Renton and Lakewood, Washington, Doorway to Recovery and its sister facility, A Change Counseling have been providing outpatient substance abuse treatment services to the community for over 15 years. With an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) as well as programs and testing services for DUI/DWI offenders, the organization is designed to assist its clients with a variety of drug and alcohol treatment options.
Treatment and Staff
Upon enrolling in the program, clients undergo a thorough intake evaluation, including the completion of an interview, a bio-psycho-social packet and police checks. They then work through a program plan with a member of the staff who ensures it is tailored to meet their needs. Dual diagnosis support and detox are not provided by the facility. For those clients requiring additional sober support, Doorway to Recovery and A Change Counseling refer them to external services in the Lakewood area.
The IOP length varies considerably, and can range from six to twelve months long, depending on the individual. During this time, each person attends six hours of group therapy a week, with individual therapy provided every two weeks. Payment is made on a session-by-session basis, and Doorway to Recovery offers 13 group meetings a week, providing plenty of choice and flexibility.
Doorway to Recovery and A Change Counseling keep a licensed doctor on staff, as well as a team of LCDCs who work closely with their clients, striving to provide a structured, supportive environment across all programs.
Extras
A comprehensive and individualized relapse prevention program is available at both locations, including the creation of a detailed prevention plan that can be an invaluable tool in the pursuit of recovery. Educational services are offered too, and the alcohol and drug information school (ADIS) gives its attendees a chance to learn about better decision-making in the context of drugs and alcohol during an eight-hour class.
Additionally, Doorway to Recovery and A Change Counseling aim to help those who may have made a few recent mistakes, with an employee assistance program to help those in trouble at work, and a deferred prosecution program for those in trouble with the law.
