The Basics
Based out of beautiful Boynton Beach, Florida, Don Prince is a treatment professional that specializes in helping recovering addicts and alcoholics who are police, firefighters, EMTs and other first responders. Prince is a nationally certified Recovery Coach, Interventionist and Food and Gambling Addiction Coach. He works as a sober coach, consultant and provides a wide range of intervention services. Prince operates independently but maintains close relationships with a number of treatment facilities.
The Background
Before moving to Florida, Prince was a fire fighter for 16 years and worked his way up to become Fire Chief of his department. Prince became interested in the recovery industry after getting sober and turning his own life around in 2011. His own experience as a fire fighter and long struggle with addiction informs his approach and helps him connect with his clients. Prince worked at several treatment facilities before co-founding Station House, a treatment facility in Florida dedicated to first responders, and gaining his certifications. In business as a recovery coach since 2015, Prince works with individuals, families and as a consultant for Warriors Heart, a luxury residential rehab in Texas specializing in police, fire fighters and veterans.
The Approach
What sets Prince apart from others in his field is his extensive experience as a team leader and Fire Chief. His personal knowledge of how stressful careers can impact those struggling with addiction helps him have empathy and design recovery programs that work. Prince’s intervention approach is less surprise-oriented and more invitational. He relies on the willingness and involvement for those who seek his services. Prince helps each client understand the impact that their addiction has had on themselves and their loved ones and find a detox or treatment program that works for them. Since every client is different, all treatment plans are individualized and the amount of preparation time for each intervention varies. Prince is trained in a number of evidence-based practices such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Gorski Relapse Prevention Therapy, however he strongly encourages 12-step participation as well. All interventions have the goal of the client seeking further treatment and referrals to an appropriate program will be made.
Post-Intervention and Summary
Prince’s involvement is not limited to the initial intervention. He is also available for personal recovery coaching, providing safe transportation and ongoing family support. Recovery strategies may include aftercare planning or check-ins after the initial intervention and treatment is complete. In all, Don Prince is a caring, hands-on, experienced treatment provider who can help clients with a wide range of recovery needs.
