Doan Center for Counseling Review
Located in El Dorado, Kansas, Doan Center for Counseling is an outpatient treatment facility for adults ages 18 and over. Treatment at DCC is provided by LADCs through Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and standard outpatient programs along with aftercare support. Programs include group and individual therapy sessions on a weekly basis.
Treatment and Staff
Upon beginning treatment at DCC, clients must undergo a two-hour long assessment during which an intake specialist gathers the necessary information to determine the proper level of care. Clients are then placed in either an IOP or a standard outpatient track. Individual sessions are available as a supplement to group therapy. These are offered once a week for an hour at a time. Those interested in more frequent one-on-one sessions can schedule these upon request. There is no medication management offered at DCC but clients dealing with co-occurring disorders are offered support through therapy.
Treatment at DCC can accommodate adults who have a busy schedule during the day. Groups are held in the evening hours from 6 to 9 pm Monday through Thursday. All groups are co-ed and facilitated by both female and male counselors. These sessions typically take on a discussion-based approach, though educational lectures are also implemented. During groups, counselors discuss topics such as anger management, anxiety, depression, family issues, coping skills, relapse prevention, addiction as disease and co-occurring disorders. There are no 12-step meetings available on-site though referrals to local meetings in the community can be provided upon request.
Staff members at DCC consist of LADCs who use evidence-based psychotherapy including CBT and DBT.
Extras
Clients who complete a treatment program at DCC are offered complimentary aftercare services. These include attendance of at least one group and one individual session a week for a few months following initial treatment.
