Discovery Houses Review
Based out of Costa Mesa, California, Discovery Houses is a subsidiary of Morningside Recovery, which provides upscale sober living facilities for men and women. While Morningside Recovery offers outpatient care in a range of intensities for clients suffering from addiction and dual diagnoses, residents don’t necessarily have to participate in outpatient care to live at one of the Discovery Houses. All of the homes provide flexible lengths of stay and access to nearby cultural attractions.
Accommodations and Amenities
Accommodations for both men and women are available in luxurious townhouses and apartments. Each of the homes can host no more than four men and no more than three women per unit. Both facilities include private rooms with twin and full-size beds, shared closet space and on-site laundry. All homes also come with DirecTV, WiFi, XBox Ones and fully-equipped kitchens. Throughout their stay, each resident must cook their own meals and shop for their own groceries using weekly vouchers provided by the facility.
Rules and Regulations
In all the facilities, residents are expected to obey house behavioral contracts and submit to random and regular drug testing to ensure they remain sober. While 12-step participation is not strictly required, all residents are encouraged to attend some kind of additional self-help meetings. Clients must also have jobs or be in school or volunteering in the local community.

During their stay, residents can take field trips to nearby beaches and restaurants in Costa Mesa. The homes are also LGBTQ friendly. Clients can bring their pets with them to treatment as well.
