Diablo Valley Review
Diablo Valley is an outpatient treatment facility with two California locations, one is Pleasant Hill and the other in San Ramon. Treatment options include ambulatory detox and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for adolescents and adults. Individual and group therapy, family counseling and medication management are integral parts of programming, which can address both chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
The outpatient detox treatment is available to those who are struggling with a variety of addictions including alcohol and opiates and serves as an alternative to inpatient programs that can last between three to five days. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is utilized to offer the most comfortable process possible, and after stabilization clients can move into the IOP.
Both locations offer flexible schedules that span over three days per week to a minimum of nine hours. There are Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedules available along with a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday option. Sessions are held in the evening during the week and Saturdays run in the morning. Each program track maxes out at 12 client per group, and each individual client has personalized treatment plan that addresses their specific needs.
The IOP consists of several group sessions during the nine hours that covers relapse prevention, coping skills, identifying triggers and discovering how to balance work and family life while navigating sobriety. Group sessions also allow for clients to receive constructive feedback and encouragement from each other. Additionally, individual sessions are incorporated into weekly tracks that address common concerns clients experience during treatment. Clients are also encouraged to find a 12-step or SMART Recovery community and get a sponsor as an additional element of support.
Treatment includes a variety of holistic and traditional approaches in therapy like CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) and specialty programming is offered for those who are dealing with chronic pain or need additional medical support or have experienced past traumas.
Diablo Valley staff is overseen by clinical director Jeri Stegman, who has over 25 years experience in the field of addiction and mental health, and is a Master’s-level MFT and RAS. There are also staff physicians, nurses, CADCs and LPCs.
Extras
Diablo Valley offers long-term aftercare plans that can include individual therapy on a regular basis and psychiatric visits.

Diablo Valley is able to offer an outpatient treatment schedule that can accommodate most people’s busy lives, as they recognize that not everyone can take time off of work or from their families to address their addiction. The treatment is solid and comprehensive, and clients are given an array of treatment options to explore on an outpatient basis.
