Located about an hour northwest of Boston in Nashua, New Hampshire, Destinations Wellness specializes in the care of clients ages 18 to 75 that are struggling with substance use disorders as well as those with co-occurring disorders. A premiere, non 12-step treatment facility, Destinations utilizes both evidence-based therapies and holistic methods to focus on treating the underlying issues that cause addiction. Accommodations and Food
Destinations believes clients should be comfortable during treatment. To this end, residents stay in a beautiful, colonial style estate in Amherst, New Hampshire. Far removed from the noise of the city and surrounded by five acres of beautiful forest, the 3,100 square foot home is nestled at the end of a private cul-de-sac in a rural neighborhood. With fresh air and nature all around, the serene atmosphere is ideal for privacy and self-reflection. With only nine beds total, the environment is both communal and private. There are both shared and private bedrooms available, all equipped with full-sized beds, nice furnishings, flat screen TVs, and en suite bathrooms. The estate boasts plenty of amenities including a large laundry room, pool table, grand fireplace, plenty of common areas, a private patio and backyard that includes a miniature golf course, hot tub, organic garden. In addition, clients are allowed the use of their laptops and mobile devices in certain areas.
Destinations places a premium on nutrition. Part of recovery is a healthy diet to replenish the body with vitamins and proteins lost to substance use. The culinary team at Destinations prepares delicious restaurant-quality meals with the client’s specific needs in mind. Dietary preferences and requirements can be accommodated.
Treatment and Staff
Destinations Wellness specializes in dual diagnosis treatment. Most clients undergo detox after admission before transitioning into the residential program. The length of residential treatment varies depending on the specific needs of the client, with some individuals staying 30, 60 and 90 days. The facility develops an individualized recovery plan that synchronizes a holistic approach with evidence-based therapies. The end goal being to treat the mind, body and soul. Clients engage in individual and small group therapy with therapists trained in CBT, DBT and EMDR to treat past trauma as a component of addiction. Holistic approaches like art therapy, yoga, massage, Reiki, aroma-therapy as well as wellness activities like exercise programs and nutrition education are also implemented.
The Destinations team is comprised of a multidisciplinary staff of therapists, counselors, addiction specialists, physicians, specialty therapists and an executive chef.

Residents enjoy seasonal outings that include going to the White Mountains, the beach, kayaking, canoeing, apple picking, corn mazes as well as snowboarding and skiing in the winter.
