Desert Hope Las VegasThe Basics

Desert Hope Las Vegas is one of American Addiction Centers’ luxury rehabs, though much more affordable than most upscale facilities. For those seeking residential treatment for substance abuse in the Las Vegas area, Desert Hope is a great option.

Accommodations and Food

With its attractive interior design, this 148-bed facility could pass for a boutique hotel. The front lobby features hardwood floors, a large selection of armchairs and love seats, floral arrangements and a fireplace. Each client shares a nicely sized room and bath with one other person. The bedrooms feature two queen-sized beds, an armchair and natural lighting.  For those who wish to get outside, the grounds feature relaxing fountains and walking paths.

A professional chef prepares three meals a day based on each client’s specifications and dietary needs. All meals are served in the large dining hall, although residents have the option of serving themselves if they wish. A typical meal can include several choices for the main entrée such as chicken breast, fajitas or ribs. For those who need something in between meals, snacks and caffeinated coffee are available throughout the day.

There are designated areas to smoke outside. No open packs or cartons of cigarettes are permitted.

Treatment and Staff

Upon admission, each client goes through an evaluation to assess detox needs, medical issues and medication requirements. Treatment typically lasts between 30 and 90 days. On-site medically monitored detox is available with round-the-clock care. From there, clients follow a schedule of group therapy and intensive individual therapy run by Master’s level therapists. Under Nevada’s strict requirements, the client-to-staff ratio is three-to-one.

Treatment modalities include Motivational Interviewing (MI), CBT, RET and DBT. Groups also cover things such as life skills, trauma, relapse prevention and processing. Individual therapy happens at least twice a week with a primary therapist. In addition to the therapeutic work, clients are also introduced to the 12 steps. While participation in 12-step work is not mandatory, clients who have been at the center for two weeks or more can attend off-site meetings. During this supervised outside time, they can also pick up personal items and run errands.

In addition to weekly family therapy, Desert Hope offers a family program. This monthly two-day intensive includes educational lectures and both individual and group therapy with clients and their family members. For those who cannot attend the program, phone sessions with the primary therapist are also an option.

Extras

Off-site personal training and one massage are offered as complimentary services while in treatment. There are additional charges for extra massages or services such as acupuncture. American Addiction Centers also offers one free month of treatment for anyone who has completed the 90-day program and relapsed.

In Summary

Desert Hope is a bit of gem when it comes to getting the most bang for your rehab buck. Clients of this Las Vegas treatment program are afforded many of the amenities and plush environment offered at high-end facilities for a fraction of the price. Along with nature’s perks of palm trees and warm, healing desert air, clients of Desert Hope also have the option of choosing whether or not they would like to participate in 12-step recovery.
