Delta Center Review
Delta Center provides mental health and substance abuse treatment for residents of Pulaski and Alexander counties in southern Illinois. A nonprofit organization, it is located in Cairo, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. The facility is fully licensed and offers outpatient substance abuse treatment for youth and adults.
Treatment and Staff
Delta Center offers three levels of care, with clients participating in the program for as long as they deem necessary. Each of the programs includes case management, individual, group, family and couples counseling, psychiatric services, a depression group, sex offender treatment, DBT and anger management.
The early intervention level is designed for at-risk youth. Clients are usually referred by family, school or significant others. Education and preventive services, such as counseling, are offered.
The level one outpatient program provides assessment, treatment and recovery services for clients who require regular support. The program includes three hours of individual and group therapy per week.
The level two program is the most rigorous, with clients attending group therapy for at least nine hours a week. Clients are referred to this program if their initial assessment determines they need frequent treatment to maintain sobriety.
Delta Center has also developed several specialized groups to assist clients. Groups for clients with co-occurring disorders who need dual diagnosis support are offered once a week in addition to the regular program. For parents with substance abuse issues, parenting groups and more intensive case management are available. Youth substance abuse groups for those ages 13 to 17 focus on such issues as peer pressure and experimentation.
The staff consists of CSACs, a case manager and a program manager.
Extras
Delta’s Green House program grows and produce plants, flowers and herbs with a goal of providing clients with employment opportunities. Those who are involved in Delta Center’s outpatient programs are eligible to work in the Green House.
In Summary
Delta Center offers an array of outpatient treatment, with sliding scale payment options that mean clients never pay more than $90 per session. While clients who are in need of detox or inpatient programs would not find sufficient support at the Delta Center, those who have already completed such programs, or are in need of preventive or less intensive services, will find support here.
