Delaware County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services Review
The Delaware County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services organization was originally founded in 1985 as the “Alcoholism Clinic”, then in 1991 it merged with the county’s drug abuse agency to form the comprehensive community facility that it is today. Located in Hamden, New York, a small town in Delaware County, the substance abuse treatment program offered by DADAS is exclusively outpatient and offers an evidence-based approach to treatment using traditional therapeutic methods.
Treatment and Staff
The substance abuse treatment program at DADAS is ideal for clients who wish to maintain a regular work or school schedule. Following an initial consultation, clients with more acute addiction are referred to another treatment facility for residential services and those who qualify for general outpatient treatment start developing an individualized treatment plan.
Each unique recovery plan dictates the various components to best suit the client’s recovery needs, the frequency of sessions and the duration of treatment. Programs typically include addiction education, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy and aftercare services.
Group session options include specialized topics such as recovery skills, stress management and relapse prevention—all scheduled at various times throughout the week. The individual and family sessions are scheduled independently between the client and their primary therapist. Staff utilize CBT methodology during treatment and while the 12-step framework is not integrated into programs, clients may be referred to local meetings upon requested.
The program can last as long as is necessary and is subject to change depending on the client’s progress. The staff at DADAS consists of a CASAC, LSWs, LPCs and CADCs.
Extras
In addition to the substance abuse treatment program, DADAS also offers legal services to those clients trying to navigate the justice system. Legal services include impaired driving assessments, probation services, court services and New York State Parole services.
