Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Treatment Center Review
The Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Treatment Center, a branch of the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, offers short-term detox and outpatient treatment for adults and adolescents. It provides individualized treatment for mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders with elements of evidence based care and 12-step support.
Located in Santa Barbara, California, CADA aims to provide preventative and educational resources to the community in advance of substance abuse treatment and is also aligned with Santa Barbara Fighting Back—a collaboration with the community to reduce the demand for alcohol and drugs.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment at the facility begins after an initial meeting with an intake counselor. Those in need can attend a two-week medical detox complete with daily 12-step meetings as well as group and individual therapy. During the detox process, clients work closely with counselors to develop a step down process that usually involves entering an outpatient program that varies in intensity dependent upon each client’s needs.
Daniel Bryant has both day and evening sessions available to accommodate work, school and life schedules. Group therapy sessions last about an hour and a half each and clients can attend multiple group sessions per week. The dual diagnosis track offers two groups per day up to four days a week, in addition to medication management services. The youth and adolescent programs have more of a prevention focus and offer education about the disease of addiction. They also provide fun sober activities, nightlife and mentoring programs.
Treatment modalities for both the adult and youth programs are a combination of the Matrix Model and the 12 steps, providing on-site AA/NA meetings and referrals to off-site meetings in the area. Groups also explore relapse prevention, parenting skills, anger management, trigger identification, coping skills and psychoeducation.
The facility also offers court-mandated programs, including classes and diversion courses for both first-time and repeat offenders. Additionally, frequent drug screens are performed to ensure sobriety. The staff at the facility includes CADCs, physicians, nurses, psychiatrists and LCSWs.
Extras
In addition to the above, the facility also offers family programs, assessments and referrals for residential care and sober living. Special programs for parents of youth and teens are offered that are education based. Outreach and school based programs are also available, as are Spanish speaking programs.
