Cushing Valley HopeCushing Valley Hope Review

Cushing Valley Hope, located between Oklahoma City and Tulsa, opened its doors in 1974 to provide clients with an integrated treatment experience that would mirror real life. While they do not offer a dual diagnosis program, Cushing Valley Hope focuses on group therapy, family participation and individual therapy as well as the disease concept of addiction.

Accommodations and Food

Sitting on a large plot of green acreage with blossoming red bud trees, the 70 bed treatment center is set up in an old brick family mansion from the 20’s. While views of the city allow clients to feel in touch with the real world, the rural setting of the land provides a relaxed quietness that is ample for healing.

The grounds at Cushing Valley Hope are similar to that of a college campus, as clients live in shared dorm-style accommodations. Each room has twin beds and dressers for two people to share; private rooms are not available.

Clients gather for cafeteria-style meals in a dining room that looks like a college mess hall. Caffeine is not permitted, though clients can get in a cup of their favorite coffee off-site once granted off-grounds privileges.

Treatment and Staff

Cushing Valley Hope is typically a 21-to-30 day residential program with a medically monitored three-to-10 day detox program on an as-needed basis. Unlike other rehabs focused on both the addiction diagnosis and mental and physical health components, treatment at Cushing Valley Hope is directed solely towards addiction as a disease.

Treatment services include one-on-one therapy with a licensed chemical dependency counselor, spiritual counseling, group therapy, 12-step meetings and educational lectures on addiction. There are 12 counselors on staff, all of whom are state certified or licensed clinicians with strong backgrounds in addiction.

Family is a major part of the treatment plan at Cushing Valley Hope. During the first five to seven days, visitation is restricted as clients are still settling into their environment. After this period, families are encouraged to visit during visiting hours as well as to participate in family week, which includes group therapy and educational lectures.

Private laptops and cell phones are not permitted.

Extras

For recreation, clients have access to a TV room, a pool table and a library. While there are no pool or gym on the grounds, there is a recreational committee that picks weekly activities for clients to partake in, all of which are encouraged but not mandatory.

In Summary

While 21-30 days may not seem like a long time, Cushing Valley Hope provides a window where clients can begin the process of sobriety in a stable and safe therapeutic environment. However, for those looking for something more long-term might need to seek treatment elsewhere.
