Crown Counseling Services Review

Crown Counseling Services (CCS) was originally established in 2008 by Suzy Bonaventura-Krishke as a small, private practice in Crown Point, Indiana. Since then it has grown to be one of the biggest mental health agencies, which is why in 2015 the main office was opened, allowing CSS to expand even further. CCS offers group, individual and family counseling services, along with case management, education and mentoring, all of which is provided by Master’s-level therapists. Some options include substance abuse outpatient treatment, and programs for eating disorders, domestic violence and sex offenders.

Treatment and Staff

There are a number of assessments that can be performed at CCS, including psychological, risk and bonding. Treatment can be obtained either from a client seeking it out (for themselves or their children), or through a recommendation. Depending on what services the client needs, there are a number of therapeutic options. Adult clients may partake in individual therapy, typically once a week, to work on past issues, or traumas, and establish personal goals they would like to meet from attending counseling. Adolescents or children who are in individual therapy are provided with age appropriate approaches, like sand play and play therapy.

There are several diverse group therapy options available as well. These include an eating disorder specific group for women known as Intuitive You that addresses body image, emotions and self harm; See Me, a chronic illness group that runs on a 10 week, open ended cycle for adults living with a chronic illness; and Pride Initiative, a weekly group for members of the LGBTQ community and their families that is free and open to all.

There are also a number of groups for families who have been affected by domestic violence that includes a number of educational and counseling services, and social skills groups.

Clients who are in the outpatient substance abuse program work on stress education, communication skills and coping with cravings. They are also encouraged to attend at least two 12-step meetings every week.

There are a number of treatment methods utilized within all aspects of the programming at CCS—EMDR, Trauma Informed CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Gestalt, Person Centered and mindfulness techniques, just to name a few. There are also some holistic methods like art and music therapy, and expressive arts therapies that are facilitated for both adolescent and adult clients.

There is a large staff at CCS who have different specializations and experiences. This includes psychologist, case management, LPC, LMHC, CADC, LCSW and NCC.

Extras

There are specialty services for older adult clients along with tutoring, parental education and supervised visitation scheduling.

In Summary

Crown Counseling Services offers open ended, compassionate treatment for clients of all ages and walks of life. This is a truly warm and caring environment for everyone who walks through the front doors.
