Crossroads Recovery Centers is a small treatment facility in La Habra, California that offers detox, residential and outpatient care. Founded in 2014, the co-ed program is run by Edgar A. Villa (LCSW) who lends his own experience living with a loved one’s addiction as inspiration for helping struggling addicts and their families.

Accommodations and Food

The facility is a contemporary two-story home with three double-occupancy bedrooms. The house is open-concept with hardwood floors throughout and comfortable furniture. Decor is modern and linens are provided. There is a spacious living room with couches, a functioning fireplace and a flat screen TV for residents to enjoy during their downtime. There is a screened-in sun porch, a pool, gazebo and hammock.

An on-site chef prepares breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar and stainless-steel appliances.

Treatment and Staff

Each client receives an assessment from a licensed therapist, registered associate CSW or MFT intern so that an individualized treatment track can be developed. Treatment duration ranges from short-term (six to 16 weeks) to long-term (anything beyond 16 weeks). Medically-monitored detox is available for adults 18 years and older and once stabilized, clients can transition to residential treatment, where they are monitored 24/7.

The daily schedule consists of an early wake-up followed by a 7 am on-site 12-step meeting. After breakfast, residents attend individual and group therapy where evidence-based practices such as CBT, Interpersonal Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), Seeking Safety, Problem-Solving Therapy and Crisis Therapy are used. Downtime and recreation are also worked into each treatment schedule.

For clients not in residence, pick-up and drop-off services are available so that treatment can be attended on an outpatient basis. Options include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) that meets five to seven days a week from 9 am to 2:30 pm, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that meets three to five days a week from 9 am to 12 pm or 6 to 9 pm and an Enhanced IOP where clients live in a structured sober living facility and are transported to and from treatment each day. The Enhanced IOP track is likely a good option for those in need of more intensive care but aren’t able to manage the cost of residential care. Other services include medication management, alcohol and drug education, case management, drug testing, anger management and discharge planning.

Crossroads staff is made up of LCSWs, MFTs, bilingual and Spanish-speaking addiction treatment counselors, nurse practitioners, consulting psychiatrists and anger management facilitators.

Extras

Couples and family counseling can be worked into any client’s program.

In Summary

Crossroads Recovery Centers provides an intimate treatment environment and a comprehensive and flexible treatment program. With detox, residential program, IOP, basic outpatient services as well as a PHP, the credentialed staff provides person-centered care. Crossroads employs a good balance of evidenced-based practices and 12-step philosophies, giving clients well-rounded treatment and all the tools they need to build a solid foundation for recovery.
