Crossroads Center of Frederick Review
Established in 1992, Crossroads Center of Frederick provides an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults and teens requiring substance abuse treatment in Frederick, Maryland, a small city approximately 50 miles inland of both Baltimore and Washington, DC. Crossroads was founded by Jill Maynes, a LCSW with 30 years of counseling experience. Maynes previously taught social work at Western Maryland College (now known as McDaniel College). In addition to IOP, Crossroads also offers a relapse prevention program, DUI classes and one-on-one counseling.
Treatment and Staff
The IOP is comprised of group and individual therapy. Clients must attend 24 therapy groups—most choose to attend three groups each week and have one individual session, enabling them to complete IOP in eight weeks. The relapse prevention program, for those who’ve completed the IOP or a residential program, lasts 16 weeks and includes group therapy once a week.
The treatment team at Crossroads is comprised of LCSWs and CADCs who use CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and the 12-step framework in therapy. All clients are required to attend 12-step meetings each week. IOP clients attend two on-site and two off-site. Relapse Prevention clients attend at least one on-site.
The treatment team is able to address co-occurring disorders in therapy, but they refer clients to local psychiatrists for medication for mental health diagnoses. Crossroads also refers out clients who would like to explore managing their addiction with medication. Crossroads provides the therapeutic services for several Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) opioid programs in the area.
Extras
Crossroads has launched an Early Intervention Program for teens who’ve experimented with drugs and alcohol. The program meets for weekly group therapy and addiction education classes.
Crossroads also offers family therapy for those whose loved ones would like to participate in their treatment.
