CrossRoad Transitional Review
Located about 30 miles north of Los Angeles in Northridge, California, CrossRoad Transitional is a nonprofit treatment facility that specializes in the treatment of clients struggling with substance use disorders as well as those in need of dual diagnosis support. Opened in 1995, the goal of CrossRoad is to reduce drug-related offenses and homelessness by providing affordable and individualized care for adult clients from all walks of life. The facility provides a full continuum of care including detox, residential programming, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), outpatient services as well as sober living.
Accommodations and Food
Located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Northridge, CrossRoad’s co-ed residential facility is situated in an upscale suburban home. With only six residents staying in gender-specific bedrooms at a time, the facility provides an atmosphere that is intimate and ideal for the recovery journey. The house boasts plenty of amenities including a fitness room, large pool, hot tub, basketball court and outdoor lounge areas. Clients enjoy the common rooms equipped with flat screen TVs, recliners, beautiful fireplace and plenty of natural light. In addition, the home also offers a movie room with a projector and comfortable reclining chairs. There are several areas designated for workshops, individual and group therapy sessions. CrossRoads enforces a strict sober environment and clients are provided 24 hour supervision.
Meals are provided by the facility for individuals in the detox and residential phases. Residents with allergies or dietary restrictions can be accommodated.
Treatment and Staff
Clients beginning treatment at CrossRoads start with a comprehensive assessment that helps the staff to develop the most effective customized treatment plan to meet the specific needs of the individual. If found necessary, clients undergo detox, which includes around-the-clock supervision. Though the treatment length varies depending on the condition of the client, detox typically lasts between three and five days. Due to changes in what insurance will cover, residential treatment has been reduced from 28 days to a two or three week program.
The facility offers individualized treatment plans that integrate evidence-based therapies, recreational activities as well as holistic methods like meditation. CrossRoads expects clients to take responsibility for their own treatment. To this end, residents take part in the design of their own plan. Along with holistic methods like drama therapy and hypnotherapy, residents engage in individual and group therapy with counselors that utilize CBT. In addition, the facility offers psychoeducation workshops that focus on behavioral modification tactics and relapse prevention. Since CrossRoad primarily offers evidence-based therapy services, 12-step recovery is not a major part of the programming.
The CrossRoad team is comprised of counselors, therapist, psychologists and psychiatrists. Medication management is available for clients in need of dual diagnosis support.
