CrossRoad Transitional Outpatient Review

Situated in Northridge, California, a neighborhood of Los Angeles about 30 miles north of downtown, CrossRoad Transitional is a nonprofit treatment facility that provides a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and outpatient services as well as sober living. Founded in 1995, the mission of CrossRoad is to diminish incarceration and homelessness by providing affordable treatment for adults struggling with substance abuse as well as those with co-occurring disorders.

Treatment and Staff

Clients typically enter outpatient treatment as a step-down phase from residential care, as they no longer require around-the-clock supervision but need to continue with therapeutic programming. Clients undergo an intake assessment that helps the CrossRoad team to develop the most effective individualized program to meet the client’s specific needs. Clients are expected to take responsibility for their own treatment, and to this end take part in the design of their own plan. This evaluation can also be used later in treatment as a baseline for comparison.

Many of the individuals participating in PHP, IOP or outpatient services stay in nearby sober living housing. PHP meets for five hour sessions every weekday, IOP runs three evenings a week for a total of nine hours and outpatient is individualized to fit the clients’ needs. CrossRoad offers a treatment approach that synchronizes several different types of therapy methods including evidence-based, holistic and psychoeducation. Clients participate in individual and group therapy sessions that use CBT as well as holistic therapies like drama therapy, hypnotherapy and meditation. The facility teaches behavioral modification strategies and focuses on relapse prevention. Since CrossRoad primarily offers outpatient medication management and therapy services, 12-step recovery is not a major part of the programming.

The CrossRoad team is comprised of Master’s-level therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists. Dual diagnosis treatment is offered, and medication management is available for clients with co-occurring disorders.

Extras

While specific details are not available due to privacy, the sober living housing is similar to the residential program in that it is co-ed, intimate and maintains a zero-tolerance sobriety rule. Please contact CrossRoad for more details.

In Summary

CrossRoad Transitional is a nonprofit treatment facility that offers PHP, IOP, outpatient services and sober living for clients struggling with substance use disorder and those in need of dual diagnosis support. CrossRoads offers a comprehensive care plan that includes medication management, individual and group counseling, psychoeducation and a combination of evidence-based and holistic methods. For clients seeking outpatient services with an experienced and compassionate staff and an intimate and caring environment, CrossRoad is a great resource.
