Crest View Recovery Center of Asheville, North Carolina, is an inpatient treatment facility that also offers Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for those who are struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Programming is based on a reality model and uses evidence-based practices during group, individual and family counseling sessions. Treatment offerings includes gender-specific and co-ed counseling and multiple levels of care.
Accommodations and Food
Clients reside on a campus during their 30 to 90 day inpatient program, which is situated in a quiet and private part of Asheville known for its serene mountain scape. The men and women are separated into three different residences on campus and are provided with both private and semi private housing options in bedrooms that are simply decorated with a dresser, full bed and some closet space. The men’s and women’s sides are spacious with a relaxed atmosphere, aiming to provide all the comforts of home. Shared common areas included a living room space with sofas and TV, group meeting rooms, yoga space and dining areas.
Going on with the reality based therapy tradition, clients are taken out on grocery shopping trips and learn how to select healthy meal options. Additionally, they are taught how to prepare meals for themselves and practice cooking by serving meals to other housemates.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment includes a variety of therapy options combined with 12-step support. Crest View is dedicated to showing their clients that there is a lot of joy and fun in sobriety, so programming always has some elements of recreational activities incorporated. During an average week clients attend at least one individual session and five small group sessions that are operated by the initial primary therapist that’s assigned during initial assessment at intake.
There are co-ed and gender-specific groups that meet several times a week to address issues that are common within men and women who are dealing with addiction. These groups talk about past traumas, anger management and learn new coping skills. Clients also learn about relapse prevention and how to manage cravings.
Clients with a dual diagnosis have medication options and holistic approaches that are offered. There is an on-site psychiatrist who holds weekly one on one sessions in order to track the client’s progress and monitor medications if needed.
Therapeutic modalities offered at Crest View include CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) mindfulness, meditation, trauma-informed care and adventure therapy.
The staff is comprised of LCSWs, CADCs, CSACs, LPCs and mental health techs.
Some added amenities offered are weekly instructor led yoga and post detox acupuncture. Family therapy is offered in both a private and group setting. Clients may choose to continue on in treatment in the outpatient track Crest View offers, and the alumni programs.
Crest Views Recovery Center’s reality based therapy programs helps clients feel relaxed while in treatment as opposed to forced into sobriety. It gives the opportunity for clients to relearn how to live a life free of chemicals and see the joy in day to day experiences in recovery. It offers a solid mix of evidence-based care, 12-step recovery and holistic treatment.
