Creekview Counseling Review
In 2010, Creekview Counseling began offering 12 step-based outpatient services in San Antonio, Texas. Creek view’s primary offering is the 8-week Journeys adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Their philosophy is that addiction as a family disease, which is most effectively treated when the entire family receives education, support and new tools for positive, lasting change.
Treatment and Staff
Creekview Counseling’s Journeys IOP provides group therapy sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8:15 pm. Group topics include relapse prevention, the 12 steps, developing healthy boundaries, dealing with anxiety and depression, building effective family systems and healthy support. Family members and loved ones are invited, but not required, to participate in therapy sessions as needed.
Each client must also take part in one hour-long individual therapy session each week. Dual diagnosis support for those with anxiety depression is provided in individual therapy. However, those with other co-occurring disorders or who require medication management may be referred to other facilities. Creekview Counseling requires clients to attend weekly on-site 12-step meetings
Creekview Counseling employs therapists of various levels of credentials, including Master’s-level and PhD. The therapists are trained to address many issues related to addiction, recovery, mental health, and family relationships.
Extras
Aftercare is offered free of charge upon successful completion of outpatient treatment, according to the staff’s evaluation. It provides former Creekview Counseling clients with weekly group sessions and encourages continued attendance at the on-site 12 step meetings.
Creekview Counseling also educates its clients on love as related to addiction, proper self-care and healing through spirituality. Also offered are ongoing recovery planning resources including referrals to long-term programs and sober living.

With half a decade of operation, Creekview Counseling has added itself to San Antonio’s roster of substance abuse treatment facilities. Creekview Counseling does not able to offer the kind of services that one would find in a residential setting, but the IOP is designed for those who need outpatient level services in order to maintain work and family commitments. The program is designed to help individuals achieve recovery and maintain their sobriety utilizing 12-step meetings, therapy and relapse prevention as its cornerstones.
