The Basics
Creative Treatment Options (CTO) is an outpatient program for substance abuse treatment. In addition to its location in West Denver, CTO opened a main office in Lakewood, Colorado after a fire destroyed its former facility in Arvada.
Treatment and Staff
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) meets three times a week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings for three hour sessions and the basic outpatient group meets twice a week. Both programs follow the Matrix Model using evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT. Groups also cover relapse prevention, drug education and strategies for self-improvement. Additionally, there is a Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) group that meets for an hour-and-a-half on Saturdays. For clients struggling with marijuana addiction, CTO now offers a Marijuana Abstinence Program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm.
Staff is consists of more than 10 experienced counselors, led by Dr. Joyce Smith who holds credentials as a PsyD, LPC and LAC.
Extras
After primary care treatment is complete, clients can step-down to a Wednesday evening only aftercare group.
For court-ordered clientele, there is a 12-week DUI course that uses psycho-education and CBT with groups focusing on substance abuse as well as stress and anger management. Clients may also take part in the Monitored Sobriety program that administers random and scheduled drug tests including breathalyzers upon request.
For clients with behavioral and mental health disorders, co-ed and gender-specific DBT groups are scheduled in the late afternoon and evenings. Individual counseling is also available on a stand-alone basis.
Domestic violence groups are also available to male and female offenders with women’s groups meeting two days a week and men’s groups meeting four.
