County of Glen Drug and Alcohol Services Review
County of Glen Drug and Alcohol Services is a public service program located in the small town of Orland, California. The drug and alcohol services are part of the Health Services Agency branch, with outpatient programs for adults and teens as well as a perinatal program for expectant mothers requiring substance abuse treatment. Utilizing evidence based methods, clients participate in both group and individual therapy and have access to a range of other social services.
Treatment and Staff
The CGDAS prides itself on offering a substance abuse treatment program that caters to the unique needs of each client as well as an environment of education and healing. With individualized recovery plans, there is no pre-set duration for treatment. After an initial evaluation and assessment, counselors place clients in the adult, adolescent or perinatal track. Treatment options include individual and family therapy, group sessions, educational lectures and prevention programs all using CBT methodology. Each track has unique services catering to the needs of the client including parenting and GED classes for the perinatal program, after-school programs for the adolescent track and vocational services for the adult track. The 12 steps are not integrated into the program, however clients are strongly encouraged to attend meetings and are provided with referrals upon request.
The staff at CGDAS consists of CADCs, LADCs, LSWs and LPCs.
Extras
In addition to the alcohol and drug services, the County of Glenn offers a variety of public services and programs for clients and the community-at-large. Additional services include mental health, housing, environmental health, emergency, child and youth programs and employment services.
In Summary
Although CGDAS treatment is limited to a basic outpatient program, it is loosely structured and highly individualized and likely a good fit for individuals trying to fit recovery into their busy home, work and school lives. Treatment plans are tailored for each client’s needs combining individual and group therapy conducted by a credentialed staff of substance abuse professionals.
