Counseling Associates Review
Counseling Associates (CA) has provided Maryland’s Delmarva area with individual, family and couples counseling since 1978. With two locations, one in Salisbury and one in Berlin, clients have the option to choose the facility that best suits their needs. The behavioral health sanction of CA offers a substance abuse treatment program, DUI services and a gambling treatment program.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment starts with an initial assessment to help the Master’s-level counselors and therapists form an individualized treatment plan for the client. The length of the assessment is usually one to one and a half hours and, depending on the type of assessment needed, may include a written test or a drug and alcohol screening. After the assessment the client starts individual therapy with their therapist. Depending on the needs of the client, treatment may include any of the following: pain management, co-occurring disorders help, adolescent treatment, adult or geriatric treatment, relapse prevention, and adult children of alcoholics treatment. If the client approves, their family or loved ones are also included in the therapy and treatment options such as co-dependency treatment (living with an addict or an abuser) and intervention training and coaching are offered to them. Clients seeking treatment for problem gambling are also given an individualized treatment plan with group, individual and family therapy. The 12 steps are not included in the program, but all clients are strongly encouraged to attend meetings.
The staff at CA consists of LCSWs.

In addition to its behavioral health services and treatment programs, CA also offers a variety of other services to its clients. Other services include: counseling for depression, PTSD, anger, grief, divorce, stress reduction, career development, family problems, marriage problems, troubled teens and relationship issues.
