Counseling and Recovery Center, Inc. (CRC) provides low and no-cost substance abuse treatment exclusively for women in Ft. Pierce, Florida, a beachside city located between West Palm Beach and Vero Beach. Established in 2000, CRC offers both residential and outpatient treatment and gives priority to pregnant women who are IV drug users.
CRC aims to help women develop life skills and learn new tools to help maintain their new lives in sobriety while developing emotional health and healthy relationships with their family and loved ones. Its programs provide dual diagnosis support and help clients develop support networks and accountability through the 12-step framework.
Treatment and Staff
Outpatient treatment is offered at two levels of care: Intensive Day Treatment (IDT)—which is similar to an Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)—and standard outpatient. Clients enrolled in the IDT track attend group therapy Monday through Friday from 9 am to 1 pm for a minimum of four months. Standard outpatient clients attend groups once a week for 12 weeks. Individual therapy is scheduled as-needed in both programs.
The treatment team at CRC includes MFTs and MSWs and a psychiatrist who provides medication management for mental health diagnoses. The program uses the Matrix Model and employs CBT and other evidence-based modalities to help clients manage triggers. There are also groups for parenting skills and processing trauma.
CRC helps clients develop a sober support network by requiring clients to attend 12-step meetings each week. IDT clients start with a requirement of three weekly meetings and may reduce attendance to two as they progress in the program. Standard outpatient clients are also required to attend at least one meeting each week.
Transportation services are available for all programs. IDT clients can attend an aftercare group for four to six months after they complete their treatment plan. CRC also provides case management services, including referrals to transitional housing.
Counseling and Recovery Center, Inc. has been a refuge for Ft. Pierce’s chemically-dependent women for nearly two decades. Its variety of outpatient and residential programs provide dual-diagnosis support and an exploration of the 12-step framework, helping clients improve mental health and cultivate coping skills and a strong support network.
