Cottage Health Care Services Review
Cottage Health Care Services is a North Carolina based health care agency that has been offering general and mental health services, as well as and substance abuse treatment to the residents of Wake County since 2005. Cottage HCS offers some basic outpatient services, as well as a relapse prevention program. CBT and dual-diagnosis support are offered at Cottage HCS but no detox is provided. Referrals can be made if necessary.
Treatment and Staff
Cottage HCS has significantly scaled back the substance abuse services that it offers. The previously existing Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and its “comprehensive outpatient program” remain listed on the Cottage HCS website, but are no longer offered. What’s left is the Cottage HCS basic outpatient program during which clients see a therapist individually and may also see a psychiatrist for the treatment of co-occurring disorders. There are no longer any group therapy sessions provided. The program runs on a self-pay basis and clients may pay for and attend as many sessions as they would like. County funding provides one appointment with a therapist and one with a psychiatrist per month for clients without insurance who meet low income requirements.
Another remaining feature at Cottage HCS are its relapse prevention classes. These classes run weekly, for 12 weeks per session, at 10 am on each Thursday. The relapse group runs discussions that cover a variety of topics, such as early sobriety, anger management, meditation, secrets, spirituality, triggers and relationships.
Cottage HCS employs one psychiatrist and also has 13 different Master’s-level therapists on staff who specialize in a variety of differing disciplines (like substance abuse, social work and dual-diagnosis).
In Summary
Cottage Health Care Services has a decade of experience under its belt. Unfortunately its services, when it comes to substance abuse treatment, have become somewhat limited in recent years. This may not make it the ideal recovery resource for most people. However, for those who need only the bare essentials, Cottage HCS may be able to offer the necessary help in its basic outpatient or relapse prevention programs. It should be noted that Cottage HCS allocates county funding to uninsured clients, based on their income.
