Costa Colina

Costa Colina is a luxury residential treatment program for women located in Laguna Niguel, a scenic beachside enclave in Southern California. The program treats only six women at a time for depression, anxiety and trauma-related diagnoses.

Accommodations and Food

Clients reside in a hillside mansion with ocean and mountain views. The residence has two private rooms and two semi-private rooms and features a swimming pool, spa and firepit. The mansion has ample common areas and outdoor spaces for reading and recreation.

A gourmet chef works in tandem with Costa Colina’s dietitian to create meals designed to accommodate clients’ nutritional needs and preferences.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment at Costa Colina incorporates evidence-based therapy, holistic modalities and spiritual practices. Clients have a full psychosocial assessment upon arrival and commit to an initial stay of 30 days. They are usually encouraged to stay 60 or 90 in order to create new habits and receive the full benefits of the program.

Residents participate in several treatment groups each day, including Mindfulness, Shame Resilience and Emotional Regulation. In addition, clients have individual therapy at least once a week. Each day, clients perform chores and have time to complete treatment homework and enjoy recreation.

Therapy at Costa Colina uses DBT, CBT, biofeedback and EMDR as well as psychodynamic processing and mindfulness. Clients who wish to attend 12-step meetings for support with substance abuse or compulsive behaviors such as overeating or gambling, are transported to local recovery meetings.
